UPDATED: Tomas 9th At Rainy Assen Race

Heavy rain caused a restart of the first round of the UEM Supermono Cup of 2008.

With 6th time in the dry but cloudy morning warm up, it all seemed to be going the right way before the race for Norrshine Motorsport driver Tomas Tallkvist.

Red Flag In Second Lap

The riders headed out for the race with spots of rain on their visors, but due to heavy rain the race was stopped in the second lap. Tomas saddled up on his "rain bike" for the restart and finished at 9th of 34 drivers.

Dramatic Qualifying

During qualifying on Saturday several drives crashed and Manfred Kehrmann from Germany who broke his collarbone. Mike Edwards got the pole position for team Mali Jawa.

More Drama In Race

The race which was reduced to 8 laps also included accidents. Several riders pulled out of the race because of the worsening conditions and Henk From from Netherlands crashing his bike heavily. From was #4 in the final standings last year.
Mike Edwards secured the first win of the season with Dutch rider Rob Kahvoort second and last years champion Mark Lawes third.
